Death of a Brother Ch. 1 by ~tomikademon:icontomikademon:

Chapter 1

Anke 'Mohelee had trained all his life to be in the Sangheilios military, to serve in the armies of his forefather's creation and to eventually be enrolled into the armies of High Charity. His dream had come true and he was headed out to the holy ring Halo on a mission to assault and defend.
The Demon, an augmented human, was causing trouble for most Covenant troops. Anke had once wondered how a human could take on so many troops of some of the most advanced warriors at a time, but he kept to the headlines across High Charity and finally got a glimpse of what the human looked like: metallic sage-like armor covered every inch of it's body, and right next to one of his own "kind", he was huge. A right-sized Sangheili next to a human. He was astounded, and of course wondered how he got to be this way. Anke had also heard of more humans like this, but he paid no real attention until now, when he looks back and should've studied them thoroughly. Though the past is in the past, one line he was taught.
"Anke 'Mohelee," a Major walked to him and turned with a holograpic sketchpad in his claws.
"Sir," he answered.
"Commanding officer Felu 'Kejuri wishes to see you on the bridge."
Anke narrowed his eyes in thought, "If I may be so bold, why?"
"Private orders, I do not know."
Anke nodded respectfully and let the Major go by first, he then quickly locked in his weapon beside his slot on the Phantom and made his way to the bridge. He passed an injured Sangheili on his way, which surprised him slightly, and entered the cockpit where it was quite silent.
"I at least hoped the choosers of what warriors were brought into High Charity were chosen carefully, not to bring in such scum of the horde."
The Sangheili turned, arms crossed and a wicked look across his face.
" 'Kejuri," said Anke, peering into his officer's eyes.
"Hmph, figures what has become of the choosers, they must need replacing."
"And what of you, making such insults for self richousness I suppose, it does not effect me any."
The Sangheili stared Anke down for a second, "Well said," he turned, "but I have not called you up here for insizable insults off my tongue, instead I ask of you being here?"
"I thought there were no-"
"There aren't," he tensed, "these are trying times, 'Mohelee, and putting the Covenant aside, the Sangheili sense strange things to happen in the future. Whether with our kind, the Covenant, or the humans. Only fate can tell."
"I do not understand..." Anke mused.
"I wouldn't expect you to. Few have passed me that took this knowledge with them, kept it close and paid attention to what went on around them rather then ignoring common knowledge. Many of our kind have sought the San'Shyuum's ways and forget who and what they are. They may fight to defend our holy Prophets, but for what, I wonder?"
"Both of our kinds had our quarrels and the nonsense that led us to slaughter, but once the Prophets led us to answers to Forerunner relics, our destiny was to defend their very existence. And if I may 'Kejuri, such speaking can get you prosecuted beyond knowing."
"And if it does, 'Mohelee? What then? Everything goes back the way it does like nothing ever happened!" He came in close to Anke's face, "Some characters in a story are never meant to be remembered."
"You are this character?"
"If I wish to be, yes. But not yet, I won't. Not until what my destiny has ahead will I know and be sure of."
Anke was now confused, why was he called up here again?
"Return to the bay, 'Mohelee, I will meet you before the drop-off."
Anke nodded, just barely, and proceeded back to his slot on the Phantom.

"Touchdown will meet us soon my brothers, may the Gods be with you."
Anke listened closely to the Major that was speaking, the words 'Kejuri spoke stuck to him like that of a cleansing flame. As if one Sangheili could have such a sight, alone? He wondered.
The Phantom hummed loudly as it approached Foreunner structures across Halo's surface. Beams of fleurescent light shot through the sky and high above the clouds. The sides of the Phantom opened and the Sangheili aboard it gazed over the green plains, most ignoring its beauty and preparing for the drop-off.
Anke loved the hills, mountains and out-stretched lakes greatly, many of these landscapes reminded him of his homeland back on Sangheilios. His childhood memories of his more domestic life, he didn't enjoy remembering, but when he could escape to explore, he adored every second of it.
"Anke 'Mohelee, just a reminder of Commander 'Kejuri's request,"
"I haven't yet forgotten."
"Of course."
The Phantom lowered down next to a tower patrolled by the various species of the Covenant, the Sangheili additions piled outof the Phantom; the doors lifted and shut thereafter.Anke waited in the troop bay.
The bridge door opened with 'Kejuri's voice giving out last-second orders to the pilot. He made his way over to Anke and rested his arms behind his back.
"Before anything else, I wish to grant you good luck on your missions down there. I am not in full understanding of what your duties are, but I knowto hope for the best."
"As would any of us," Anke agreed.
"I want you to take this," 'Kejuri handed Anke a very small package, a box if you will.
Anke raised it to his face more, "What is it?"
"A memory, in better speaking. If ever on your way you meet another Sangheili named Loli 'Kejuri, please, give this to her."
"Her? 'Kejuri? Is this some relative of yours?"
"Indeed. She is my sister, and I haven't heard from her since at least back when I was still a Major."
"What makes you think I will happen upon her?"
"Trust, destiny, and what-not. When she disappeared it was on Halo, I and several other officers are absolutely sure of it. Loli isn't one to trifle foolishly with, for she is quite an honorable warrior - perhaps not to elder's eyes, but I know her truly, and she is."
"If ever I happen upon a female Sangheili, I will take to her cautiously. You can trust me with your life, 'Kejuri. I shant disappoint you."
"Thank you, 'Mohelee, I trust my sight will not be blinded, for now."
The Phantom's side doors opened as he finished his sentence and Anke prepared to jump out, holding onto the egde of the craft.
"What does this other 'Kejuri look like, if I may ask of you."
"Minor, just as yourself, only the figure is, of course, different."
Anke nodded toward his officer and smoothly jumped off of the Phantom. He turned to get a glimpse of the Commander as the doors then again shut and the Phantom lifted high into the air, ascending into the atmosphere.
